Milestones in Medicine: Reviewing the Past, Present, and Future of Immunosuppression Therapy in Renal Transplantation is an educational activity designed to traverse the history of immunosuppression therapy, beginning with a review of early practices and their evolution into the current advancements, followed by a focus on the state of current-day therapy and visions for the future. This activity depicts the complexities of organ rejection and strategies incorporated to minimize such incidences by first introducing a historical perspective on the topic and later transitioning into faculty-led presentations on current immunosuppressive treatments and emerging therapies in renal transplantation. In this way, Milestones in Medicine is able to highlight the roots of the practice of medicine, from the most rudimentary treatment methods, through contemporary science, to future advances in treatment. This activity allows medical professionals to enhance their knowledge on the use of immunosuppressant therapy by furthering an understanding of the past in order to translate treatment practices in the future.
