Learning Objectives

Following completion of the program, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss early evidence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) discovered through archeological evidence, art, and literature
  • Review the benefits and limitations of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs in the treatment of patients with RA
  • Identify the current primary goals of management of RA and the current thinking on ways to achieve these goals
  • Describe the benefits and limitations of the most recent developments in the treatment of RA, including minocycline, leflunomide, and biologic response modifiers
  • Discuss anticipated future advances in the treatment of RA
